Hearing Examiner Rules Changes

The Seattle Office of the Hearing Examiner is undertaking a major rewrite of its rules and procedures. From the Hearing Examiner’s office:

The Seattle Office of Hearing Examiner (“Office”) is undertaking a significant re-write of the Hearing Examiner Rules of Practice and Procedure (“HERs”) that govern hearings conducted by our Office.  The proposed amendments are sweeping in scope, and if adopted will result in changes throughout the HERs.

Written (email, letter, or red-line version edits) comments should be submitted no later than May 6, 2022, and may be emailed to hearing.examiner@seattle.gov or mailed to Seattle Office of Hearing Examiner PO Box 94729, Seattle, WA 98124.  Comments should be received no later than May 6, 2022. 

The Office will be conducting a multi-step public engagement process to invite your comments.  In addition to early distribution of the draft HERs to all listserv users in February 2022, seeking your comment, public meetings will also be schedule.  Open public meetings, some with various user group emphasis, will be scheduled in April 2022.  Following a review period, the draft HERs will be re-drafted based on comments received during the initial public meetings and comment period, with a final public meeting to be held in June 2022 prior to adoption of the amendments.
