Last week Gallup released the results of a recent poll on Americans’ views on reforming police departments.
According to the poll, the vast majority of Americans believe that there need to be reforms, though there is a split between those who prefer major reforms versus more measured ones. More Black Americans believe that major changes are required, which is not surprisingly given the substantial data showing that Black persons are disproportionately impacted by police abuses.

The poll also provides a breakdown of support for specific proposals for police reform.

Gallup also reports that fewer Black individuals have had recent interactions with the police compared to 2020, but those that have rated the interactions more positively.
